Racism

So, after yesterday’s fun and games about “the Wuhan”, some lady decided to ante up.

I’d indicated that 1.5 million people dead in the US was an utter falsehood, and that it was possible, globally, but that I doubted it was anywhere even remotely close to that.

Insensitive Cunt.

Why, no, no I don’t pull punches, what makes you think I would?

This post was sparked by an image shared by a FB friend – one that’s now set as the main image for this post.

Racism – similar to xenophobia – is one of my hotbuttons.  Most of the political left seems to think that Racism is anything that doesn’t “empower” or otherwise provide an advantage to “persons of color.”

That’s not just wrong, that’s totally and completely wrong.

Oxford Dictionary says:

noun
  1. prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.
    “a program to combat racism”

    • the belief that different races possess distinct characteristics, abilities, or qualities, especially so as to distinguish them as inferior or superior to one another.
      “theories of racism”

The largest source of racism in the United States, today, is the federal government, under the guise of Affirmative Action.

No? Think about it.  Oxford again:

(in the context of the allocation of resources or employment) the practice or policy of favoring individuals belonging to groups known to have been discriminated against previously.

That means, someone who may have been discriminated against, is now given an advantage over others (who were not “discriminated against previously”.

That in turn, means you are discriminating against those who were not discriminated against, previously.

Nasty, isn’t it?

It’s worse than that.  As one comedian once said (I’m paraphrasing here), “I don’t know what’s worse – that I didn’t get a job, because of the color of my skin, or that I ONLY got a job, because of it.”

I believe in equal rights. Not “preferential” treatment for anyone, no discrimination for ANYONE, based on the color of their skin, what’s in their underwear (or what they THINK is in their underwear), their ethnic heritage, or any other trait.

Calling me a ‘privileged white male’ is a quick trip to getting slapped in the head – regardless of the color of your skin, your gender, or where you came from.
